ADVISORS
Lynn Poole - Founder and Online Store Manager
Lynn began volunteering at age 8, helping her mother construct Braille books for blind students living in California. "Volunteering was our family norm; It was expected - each day we brushed our teeth, did our homework, and helped others." For many years Lynn worked as a staff nurse at Stanford Hospital before taking up the life of a global nomad in the countries of Brazil, Nepal, Zimbabwe and now, Guatemala. In 2002 Lynn began working with the Batsiranai mothers, helping grow and officially found the already formed group. Although she now lives in Guatemala, a place far from Zimbabwe, Lynn continues her Batsiranai work. "The greatest happiness comes from helping others - it is actually that simple!"
Jan Stoner - Volunteer and Marketing Coordinator
Early on, Jan learned that it is truly better to give than receive. "My heart is happiest when I am in service to others." She came of age when feminism was blossoming and radical new opportunities opened up for women. In pursuing those opportunities she became a surveyor in the bush of Alaska and then a chiropractor for many years. Lynn introduced Jan to the women and work of Batsiranai, leading Jan to step up as Batsiranai's coordinator and representative in the United States. "They have so much spunk and determination and drive. It is a pleasure helping them reach and achieve so many goals for themselves and their children. They are changing the face of their communities."

Meet an Intern:
Meg Dickey-Griffith, Communications Intern
"I started to intern for Batsiranai after graduating from college, drawn to their mission and grassroots organization. I had the opportunity to make a direct difference to the women of Batsiranai while getting real-life experience with an international nonprofit. My knowledge and understanding of sales-oriented nonprofits grew exponentially, giving me insights into the complexities of international sales, communications, and economics. I have been inspired by the stories of the Batsiranai women and their children. Their perserverence in the face of economic struggles and social isolation has strengthened my own resolve to work for a better world and appreciate all the joys in our lives."
